Galen Craven
I am originally from the Quad-Cities area in northwest Alabama. I received my B.S. in Chemistry from the University of North Alabama in 2009 and then moved to Atlanta, GA in order to pursue doctoral work at Georgia Tech in the research group of Rigoberto Hernandez. In December of 2014 I defended my Ph.D. which focused on theory for multiscale reaction dynamics. From September 2015 to April 2019 I was a postdoctoral researcher working on theoretical problems in nanoscale energy transport with Abe Nitzan at UPenn in Philadelphia, PA. After UPenn, I was a Director's Postdoctoral Fellow in the Physics and Chemistry of Materials Group and the Center for Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). I am currently a Staff Scientist in the Theoretical Division at LANL where my research focuses on the development and application of quantum simulation methods and machine learning protocols to solve problems in chemistry and physics.
